Theaterwerkplaats ’Generale Oost’ is the professional work space for emergent choreographers and theatre artists‚ with an environment that allows dancers and choreographers‚ directors and actors to explore‚ discover‚ develop and put the artistic ideas and approaches to their work into practice. Many projects and collaborations take place during the year‚ each defined by the desires and needs of the single theatre artist or dancer: an artistic work that is created and staged either in the theatre or at a specific location. Each project is aided artistically with the search for funding‚ production and promotion. The performances are usually presented in our theatre‚ Theater aan de Rijn in Arnhem‚ a small space seating 80 people.

Passo is a work centering on the confusion between reality and pretence‚ the limits of the inside and outside of the show‚ between the written score and the unforeseen. We play around with theatrical illusion and the unexpected and the constant transformation of the sense.
The unexpected deviation of making sense is a fundamental part of theatre games and‚ in fact‚ life itself presents us with a continuous transformation of the sense of what we encounter‚ requiring us to have elasticity and the capability of being critical‚ for exercising doubt and for questioning.
With dynamic dancing‚ broken up by falling down and recovery and unexpected gestures‚ in Passo‚ the seemingly clear affirmations alternate and are questioned: a subtle change reveals a new aspect that shifts the sense of the affirmation‚ even in completely different directions.
The possibility of a single interpretation is denied; doubt and surprise are at work with a subtle‚ playful‚ and at times sharp‚ humor.
