The body is like a pencil moving upon a sheet of paper.
I begin drawing with my body and create lines and shapes.
It‚s only afterward that I find the meanings that emerge from those shapes.
Every dancer draws their own self-portrait through this process.
Joona Halonen‚ finnish dancer and choreographer‚ she has worked as a performer with many choreographers and directors, including Jyrki Karttunen, Jenni Kivelä and Dario Fo.
Since 2005‚ she has presented her own choreography in various European cities. With ”Red letter days” she was awarded first prize at the Saitama International Dance Contest in Tokyo. Her most recent work‚ “Whispering Cosmos”‚ has been acclaimed by critics and audiences.
“Come out” premieres in November 2010 at Zodiak – Center for New Dance in Helsinki.
