“A rosary made out of almonds‚ sugar‚ walnuts‚ dried chestnuts‚ burlap bags and brass weights. It’s a rosary for praying with one’s tongue‚ between the teeth. The prayer rises and satisfies the need towards the liturgy of rambling words that are living and bouncing off the walls like the cries of some animal. The eyes are pleased and reassured to see the positions taken by the red saints. It’s a wave of joy that surprises their fixity of bold plaster compared to which getting up and sitting on bothersome benches is something far more bearable”
(F. Chiriatti)
Teatrofficina Zerogrammi was founded in 2006 by Stefano Mazzotta and Emanuele Sciannamea‚ who are both dancers and choreographers with diplomas from the Paolo Grassi Civic School of Dramatic Art in Milan. After a period of collaboration as dancers with artists including Ismael Ivo‚ Monica Casadei and Susanna Beltrami‚ they started out on their own choreographic path and produced their first work “Zerogrammi” (the name of the company), a show awarded First Prize in Choreography at the 2008 Oriente Occidente Festival and the Best Show Award at the Giocateatro Festival in 2009. “INRI” is their second creation. Among the projects they are working on is one called “Mappugghje” co-produced by Devir-Capa (Portugal) with support from DE.MO./Movin’Up.
