On stage there’s a man‚ alone‚ with his back to the audience for the duration of his performance‚ while he tries to find his image in everything his eyes light upon.
“But his solitude conceals the mystical encounter with being‚ and generates‚ in its symbolic and dynamic manifestation of energy‚ the communion between souls who assist discretely‚ witnesses of the encounter with the self and the wonder of Epiphany of the otherness. The interactive relationship with the internal disturbance is reflected in the search for you‚ the randomness of the air waves‚ imprinted‚ almost in the cosmos”. (Martina Oddi‚ Joseph in and out of the infinite)
The author of the performance borrows its name from the one who takes upon himself the fatherhood of the man who hides the divine‚ but we can not know who Joseph is‚ or where he is. We do not know whether it regards this man we see on-stage or one of those with strange eyes chanced upon within the representative system. The solo loses its connotation of event performed by a single performer and is filled with distorted‚ doubled and amplified looks of amazement. Bodies exposed and ready for exhibition‚ out there‚ somewhere‚ on the other side of the world‚ at the same instant. Fiat lux: like the conjurer’s top hat conferred with the authority to generate white rabbits.
