Who can understand exile better than an artist? “I know the journey‚ the road to the station...the trains make the memories and the future destinations of my life real. They lead us away from a place of ourselves to bring us to another place that often becomes the exile of research...” (Babacar Cissé)
When does one return from this journey? Why stay or leave? Haven’t we asked ourselves these questions at least once in our lives? Surely we know he pain you feel leaving your native land‚ the hope of finding a better future elsewhere.
The concept of exile involves the departure to another destination known or unknown and thus the abandonment of something‚ the need to find a part of oneself... Starting from here‚ to go where?
Babacar Cissé is the choreographer and artistic director of the company Les Associés Crew‚ founded in 2006‚ but which has been active for more than 10 years in France in the Bordeaux region. It consists of 7 dancers from different backgrounds (jazz‚ classica‚ hip hop‚ Afro‚ contemporary). The company is supported by Le Cuvier (Artigues-près-Bordeaux)‚ Initiatives d’artistes en danses urbaines (Paris)‚ la DRAC Aquitaine‚ le Conseil Régional d’Aquitaine‚ le Conseil Général de la Gironde‚ le Théâtre de Bressuire (Deux Sèvres) and la ville de Cenon.
