artistic intervention on a public bus
space > Bus 55/56
from Piazza Castello to Piazza Vittorio
The intervention advises a path through which the audience/passengers are invited to follow the artists' suggestions and to see the places of their daily lives with other eyes...
The source of inspiration is the “collective” nature of public transportation where you can sit next to strangers and share a trip, where human relations follow particular dynamics. The creation starts from a long process of the observation of gestures, postures, situations and the typical dynamics of “staying” on public transportation, almost an investigation of how the experience of traveling on a bus turns into a creative stimulus.
The two dancers suggest another kind of “use” of the public vehicle: starting from how the movement of a bus affects the body as to balance, they create short sequences in which their movements echo the oscillations, the departures and the stops and the highly original use of “special supports”, finding improbable and sometimes acrobatic positions.
The performance thus happens inside a vehicle in regular service, the perfect place for an intervention that doesn't mean to interrupt the everyday life of the trip, but rather wants to insinuate itself, almost unnoticed, into this urban place, playing with the reactions of surprise and those passengers who are possibly unaware of the event.
The Compagna Grimaco_movimentiumani was selected through the Regeneration 2010 project. The group was founded in 2004, and creates works that include sounds and words as minimal contours highlighting the action of dance. The artistic line is traced through the projects proposed and directed by various members of the group from time to time, making the production process particularly eclectic. In 2010, the company received recognition from the Turin Theatre System with the show The Country of the Ones (Il Paese degli Uni) which won the Regeneration project in the Focus section and was included in the season of the Piedmont Theatre Circuit, and was a finalist in the Cortodanza (short dance) competition organized by Tersicorea Off in Cagliari (Sardinia).
